Whereas the Township of Springwater recognizes the importance of improving roadway safety for motorists by continuing to establish strategies designed to minimize traffic conflict wherever possible; and, Whereas Yonge Street South in Elmvale between Queen Street East and the settlement's southernly boundary has generated safety concerns in relation to driver confusion respecting clear roadway position for both left turns and passing due in part to the overall width of the roadway, the visible asphalt pavement seams, and the current pavement markings coupled with regular fading of roadway markings. Be It Resolved That Council finds it prudent to install a continuous center turn lane on Yonge Street South between Queen Street East and the settlement's southernly boundary, as road width permits, in conjunction with appropriate signage as deemed by staff. And Further That staff be directed to effect this change through the 2024 public works operational budget as a public works operational matter.
