Cultural and Heritage Advisory Committee

That this meeting of the Township of Springwater Cultural and Heritage Advisory Committee come to order at 5:30 p.m.

That the November 16, 2023, Minutes of the Township of Springwater's Cultural and Heritage Advisory Committee be approved as amended.

That following the receipt of the Heritage Tax Refund Program applications for 2024, due on February 29, 2024, the following in-person inspections be conducted prior to the June 6, 2024, Committee meeting by the following members:  Parker House (16 Yonge Street South, Elmvale) by Councillor Garwood and Member Czajkowski  Tudhope House (62 Queen Street West, Elmvale) by Chair Mahon and Member Kenwell  Crossland General Store (2678 Crossland Road, Elmvale) by Member Gannon and Councillor Garwood  Wattie House (1680 Highway 26, Minesing) by Member Barker and Member Czajkowski  Shaw House (44 Queen Street East, Elmvale) by Chair Mahon and Member Kenwell

That following the receipt of the Heritage Tax Refund Program application for 2024, due on February 29, 2024, the following in-person inspections be conducted prior to the June 6, 2024, Committee meeting by the following members:  Martingrove House (1407 Flos Road Eight West, Elmvale) by Members Joan Gannon and Jim Crawford

That the report from the Deputy Clerk dated February 8, 2024 regarding updates to the Heritage Evaluation Guidelines; be received, and, That the updated Heritage Evaluation Guidelines be approved.

That the report from the Deputy Clerk regarding a request for heritage designation of 1017 Coughlin Road, be received; and, That the Committee express interest in proceeding with evaluating the home at 1017 Coughlin Road; and, That Members Greg Barker and Joan Gannon be assigned to meet with the property owner and document the historical information about the property; and, That the Members report back to the Committee with the property’s historical information.

That the report from the Committee Coordinator regarding prioritizing listed properties on the heritage register - letter to listed property owners, be received.

That Member Barker and Chair Mahon be assigned the responsibility of leading the staging of the Hillsdale Jail cell; and, That the responsible committee members report back at the April 11, 2024 meeting.

That the information items listed herein, be received as information: 8.1. Heritage Week - social media campaign 8.2. Doors Open Simcoe County 2024 8.3. Premier Ford Commemorates Black History Month

That the February 8, 2024 meeting of the Township of Springwater Cultural and Heritage Advisory Committee does now adjourn at 7:15 p.m.
